Team from IUT Visits MIST Cyber Range for Daylong Course

A team comprising of academicians, professionals, and students visited MIST Cyber Range for a short course on "Cyber Security for Information Age: Practices and Challenges" on Saturday, 23 July 2022. The visit of was part of a 3 daylong short course arranged by the Department of CSE, Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Bangladesh.

The course was attended by a total of 35 participants from 14 different universities/Institutes including 6 foreign students who participated online. The participants were a mix of experienced academicians, professionals, and undergraduate and postgraduate students. The detailed participant list can be found below.

Certificate Course in Cyber Security Operation Center Analysis and Threat Hunting launched on 16 July 2022

A specialized course on Cyber Security Operation Center Analysis and Threat Hunting commenced on 16 July 2022 specifically for law enforcement agency members. A total of 21 participants, from various law enforcement agencies of the nation, including AITSO, IT Dte of Bangladesh Army, and NSI are attending the 5-week long course.

Respected commandant of MIST and chief patron of Center for Advanced Computing and Research (CACR), Maj Gen Md Wahid-Uz-Zaman, BSP, ndc, aowc, psc, te visited on the first day of the class. The class is being conducted on the recently established cyber range of MIST.

Certificate Course on Information Security Assessment and Penetration Testing Commences

17th June 2022



The first batch of Certificate Course on Information Security Assessment and Penetration Testing commenced on 17 June 2022 and is currently ongoing. The first course is being attended by security and ICT professionals from different banks as well as IT companies. The course will be conducted over 5 weeks with a one-week break for Eid-ul-Adha. Top security professionals from the banking sector and academicians and staff from MIST are conducting the course.

The class was visited on the third week by the commandant of MIST and chief patron of CACR, Maj Gen Md Wahid-Uz-Zaman, BSP, ndc, aowc, psc, te. He thanked the students and instructors for their keen participation and expressed MIST's commitment to ensure absolute quality towards its goal of becoming an authority and a hub of excellence in cybersecurity in Bangladesh.

Workshop on “Roadmap to Cyber Security in Financial Sectior: INDUSTRY-ACADEMIA COLLABORATION” by CENTER FOR ADVANCED RESEARCH AND COMPUTING (CACR), MIST

A workshop on “Roadmap to Cyber Security in Financial Sector: Industry-Academia Collaboration” was held on Saturday 11 Jun 2022 at MIST. The workshop was arranged by the cybersecurity wing of the newly established Center for Advanced Computing and Research (CACR) at MIST.

With the recent inauguration of the world-class Cyber Range facility at MIST, the institute is committed to becoming a national hub of Training and Excellence in Cyber Security. The workshop was held to share ideas and views on how MIST as an academic institute can work seamlessly with Banking and FinTech companies to strengthen the national cybersecurity in Digital Finance.

Discussion Session on Course Syllabus and Resourse Mapping with Director of CACR and Instructors.

A discussion and opinion sharing session was held in the presence of Director of CACR, Brig Gen Md Abdur Razzak, SUP, psc, on course syllabus finalization and resource mapping. Our Hon’ble instructors shared their opinion and disccused on the flourish cyber tools and solutions.

The instructors shared their views on how to leverage these trending technologies so that Bangladesh may build skilled manpower and emerging technology initiatives in these domains.

Discussion Session with Commandant MIST & Cyber Security Professionals

An open discussion and opinion sharing session was held in the presence of respected Commandant of MIST, Maj Gen Md Wahid-Uz-Zaman, BSP, ndc, aowc, psc, te. Cyber security professionals from various banks, financial institutes and IT companies were present in the meeting.

The agenda of the meeting was to discuss on the syllabus and training method for the upcoming course at MIST cyber range. The suggestions by the qualified cybersecurity professionals, many of whom will be part of the teaching staff for the course, helped to formulate a syllabus and course content that's relevant to the demands of the current industry trends in cybersecurity.
